Orion Area Chamber of Commerce Announces the 2024 Board of Directors
The Orion Area Chamber Leadership Team is dedicated to creating a healthy local economy
and building a strong environment for economic growth and sustainability.
In keeping with this vision, the Orion Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce three
recently elected Board Members to serve a three-year term: Tonya Hamilton, Executive
Director of North Oakland Community Coalition; Chase McMunn, Director of Orion Township
Public Library; Janice Zale, LPL Financial Advisor at Zale Group Wealth Management.
They join newly appointed Chairwoman of the Board – Angela DelPup of Ascension Michigan
Community Health; Vice Chair – Jimmy Johnson of Graphic Takeover; Vice Chair – Theresa
Doan of Genisys Credit Union; Treasurer – Steve Wandrie of Steve Wandrie Caliber Home
Loans; Secretary – Nicki North of Hershey Insurance; Immediate Past President – Wayne Haney
of Haney Farm Bureau Insurance; Aaron Whatley of Orion Township Parks & Recreation;
Jennifer Whitteaker of DTE Energy.

The Orion Area Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to honor the 2023 Award Recipients at their Impact  Awards Luncheon on Thursday, December 7th at Paint Creek Country Club.  

This year, the Orion Area Chamber is excited to honor the following Award Recipients:

ONTV Earns Three Awards

Orion Neighborhood Television was honored at the Philo Festival of Media Arts, earning three awards for excellence in local programming. The Central States Alliance of Community Media was held at Monroe County Community College on Oct. 12. Political Awareness category

ONTV was a winner in the News category for its “ONTV Newscast #1311.” The episode highlighted the latest news affecting the Orion Area, including stories about Dragon on the Lake 2022, Big Rig Gig and the Woodward Dream Cruise. “One of my favorite aspects of my job is going out into the community to cover local events and news,” said station manager Joe Johnson. “We really put a lot of effort into the newscast to make it look as professional as possible and news anchor Stacy Calloway is a big reason for that.  I’m very proud of ONTV News and it’s so gratifying that others appreciate the work that goes into it.”

The “ONTV Newscast #1311” also beat out 18 other nominations to bring home the Excellence in Directing award. “When I heard we were nominated for an award I was happy,” said ONTV volunteer Stacy Calloway. “I wanted us to win, and I wanted us to win big. I am overwhelmed with joy. We look forward to making more memories, making more stories, and wining more awards.”

Scouting on Air won in the Student Magazine Division for its “Scouting and the War in Ukraine” episode. Scouting on Air was developed by the Scouts from the Michigan Crossroads Council and features segments covering current scouting events, product reviews and interviews with various leaders in scouting. “Scouting on Air would never have been possible without the support of Orion Neighborhood Television,” said producer Brandon Kathman. “Watching these youths grow as performers, artists, technicians, and people has been the privilege of a lifetime.”

The Philo Awards in an annual public access television cable TV competition within the Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Michigan region. The “PHILO” is awarded for excellence in community media in various categories.

ORION TOWNSHIP’S 2023 COMMUNITY SURVEY IS LIVE

Orion Township, MI (October 19, 2023) Orion Township is excited to announce the launch of the 2023
Community Survey, a vital initiative aimed at gathering valuable feedback from our residents and stakeholders.
This comprehensive survey is designed to engage the community and provide essential insights for the
betterment of the community.
The 2023 Orion Township Community Survey is an opportunity for every resident, business owner, and member
of the community to have their say. The Township values your input, and your feedback will play a crucial role in
shaping the future of Orion Township.
As a vibrant and growing community, we believe in the power of collective decision-making and the importance

of transparency. Township Supervisor Chris Barnett, when asked about the survey, emphasized the community-
centric approach, saying, “We work for the community. Your input is our inspiration and motivation. The survey

is a means for us to better understand your needs and priorities, and to ensure that our efforts align with the
wishes of our stakeholders.”
The 2023 Orion Township Community Survey covers a range of topics, including public safety, economic
development, recreation, infrastructure, and more. Your participation is not only welcomed but strongly
encouraged, as it will help us enhance the quality of life in our Township and ensure its continued prosperity.
Your responses will be strictly confidential, and your individual data will remain anonymous. This ensures that

you can be open and honest in your feedback, knowing that your opinions will contribute to the collective well-
being of our Township.
