“14th Annual Food Drive for FISH”

Orion Neighborhood Television, Orion’s community access television station, will be hosting its 14th annual Food Drive to benefit the Oxford/Orion FISH Food Pantry. Last year’s food/fund drive raised over $13,000 and collected over 2,000 pounds of food for the pantry.

The televised food/fund drive will begin the week of Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. and run through Feb. 9 until 9 p.m. The drive will air for five full days and nights with LIVE studio elements each day from 12-2 p.m. and every evening from 7-9 p.m. The community can view the food drive on Comcast Ch. 10, AT&T U-Verse Ch. 99, ROKU Cablecast Ch., Amazon Fire TV, ONTV Facebook Page and at OrionONTV.org.

“I can’t believe this is our 14th food drive,” says Ian Locke, ONTV executive director. “Each year the donations go up and we can’t thank the community enough for its continued support. We are once again partnering with our friends at OCTV in Oxford. By working together, we’re hoping to raise more money and collect more food for the shelves at FISH.”

ONTV’s goal is to raise $6,000 for FISH through corporate sponsorships and community donations. They are also asking for the community’s help to fill the ONTV van with non-perishable food and personal items. The ONTV production van will be parked at the studio, located at 1349 Joslyn Rd for in-person donations Feb. 6 -10 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.  Monetary donations can be made through the GoFundMe account located on the ONTV website at orionONTV.org.

Oxford/Orion FISH provides emergency aid in the form of food and agency referrals to individuals in Oxford, Lake Orion, Addison and Oakland Township.  People who have a need for groceries can call the office at 248.628.3933.

ONTV was a winner in the News category for its “ONTV Newscast #1311.” The episode highlighted the latest news affecting the Orion Area, including stories about Dragon on the Lake 2022, Big Rig Gig and the Woodward Dream Cruise. “One of my favorite aspects of my job is going out into the community to cover local events and news,” said station manager Joe Johnson. “We really put a lot of effort into the newscast to make it look as professional as possible and news anchor Stacy Calloway is a big reason for that.  I’m very proud of ONTV News and it’s so gratifying that others appreciate the work that goes into it.”

The “ONTV Newscast #1311” also beat out 18 other nominations to bring home the Excellence in Directing award. “When I heard we were nominated for an award I was happy,” said ONTV volunteer Stacy Calloway. “I wanted us to win, and I wanted us to win big.
